I've held onto many mementos past the point of luck; one such was a bag of sand collected twelve years prior (2005) from a Tibetan sand mandala, which I cast on a photograph, then lifted to the wind last year (2017). A sand mandala resounds, with every creation and dissipation, living through letting go. This is a time of relinquishment and lightenment*, the casting away of mnemonic possessions that insist time is fixed, and insulate us against direct experience. We are sovereign beings, and everything we could ever want is ours already. The work I make is simply a visual recalibration to tune in, and I thank you for choosing to do so with me.
*lightment = alignment of mind + body + spirit --> radiant lightness of being
